| iShares MSCI ACWI is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the MSCI All Country World Index (the Index). The Index is a free float-adjusted market capitalization index designed to measure the combined equity market performance of developed and emerging markets countries. Components primarily include consumer discretionary, consumer staples, energy, financial, industrials and information technology companies. As of Jul 31 2015, the Fund's total assets were $6,640,425,801 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $6,620,217,123. We show 139 historical shares outstanding datapoints in our ACWI shares outstanding history coverage, used to compute ACWI market cap on those dates. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing share price, and the resulting changing ACWI market cap history over the course of time is important for investors interested in comparing ACWI's market cap history versus its peers. Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies, and then calculating their respective market caps.
