| AGNC Investment Corp. is an internally managed real estate investment trust (REIT) that provides private capital to the U.S. housing market, enhancing liquidity in residential mortgage markets and facilitating home ownership. Co. primarily invests in Agency residential mortgage-backed securities (Agency RMBS) on a leveraged basis. These investments include residential mortgage pass-through securities and collateralized mortgage obligations, with principal and interest payments guaranteed by U.S. Government-sponsored enterprises like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, or by a U.S. Government agency like Ginnie Mae. AGNC may also invest in other housing, mortgage, or real estate-related assets.
