iShares S&P Asia 50 Index Fund is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the S&P Asia 50 Index (the Index). The Index is a free float-adjusted, market capitalization-weighted index that is designed to measure the performance of the 50 companies from four Asian markets: Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan. The Fund invests in a representative sample of securities included in the Index that collectively has an investment profile similar to the Index. As of Mar 31 2015, the Fund's total assets were $393,150,954 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $389,085,105. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing AIA market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing AIA's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
and then calculating their respective market caps. Comparing the share price of AIA versus a peer is one thing; comparing
AIA market cap versus a peer is a completely different story.
Furthermore, via fluctuation both in per-share price and in the number of shares outstanding (via issuance of new shares over time, the repurchase of existing shares),
