Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals develops medicines that treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes that cause them. Co.'s pipeline of various development programs include: ARO-APOC3, which is designed to reduce production of Apolipoprotein C-III, a component of triglyceride rich lipoproteins including Very Low Density Lipoprotein and chylomicrons and a key regulator of triglyceride metabolism; ARO-ANG3, which is designed to reduce production of angiopoietin-like protein 3, a liver synthesized inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase and endothelial lipase; and ARO-ENaC2, which is designed to reduce production of the epithelial sodium channel alpha subunit in the airways of the lung.
