First Trust Dow Jones Select MicroCap Index Fund is an open-end management investment company. Co. seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield of an equity index called the Dow Jones Select MicroCap Indexsm (the Index). The Index measures the performance of selected U.S. micro-capitalization companies chosen from all common stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE Amex and The NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc. that are comparatively liquid and have fundamentals relative to the micro-capitalization segment as a whole. As of Dec 31 2014, the Fund's total assets were $51.7 million. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing FDM market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing FDM's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
