First Trust Mid Cap Value AlphaDEX Fund is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield of an equity index called the Defined Mid Cap Value Index. The index is a modified equal-dollar weighted index designed by S&P to objectively identify and select stocks from the S&P MidCap 400® Value Index that may generate positive alpha relative to traditional passive-style indices through the use of the AlphaDEX® selection methodology. As of Jul 31 2013, the Fund's total assets were $24,194,140 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $21,302,701. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing FNY market cap history over the course of time is important for investors

Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
