| Market Vectors Global Alternative Energy ETF is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to replicate as closely as possible the price and yield performance of the Ardour Global Index (Extra Liquid) (the Index). The Index is a rules-based, global capitalization-weighted, float-adjusted index that tracks the overall performance of a global universe of listed companies engaged in the alternative energy industry. The Index comprises a globally diversified group of companies engaged in the production of alternative fuels and/or related technologies. As of Dec 31 2013, the Fund's total assets were $111,541,033 and its investment portfolio was valued at $91,410,447. We show 9 historical shares outstanding datapoints in our GEX shares outstanding history coverage, used to compute GEX market cap on those dates. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing share price, and the resulting changing GEX market cap history over the course of time is important for investors interested in comparing GEX's market cap history versus its peers. Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much.
