iShares U.S. Insurance is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Select Insurance Index (the Index). The Index measures the performance of the insurance sector of the United States equity market, and includes companies in industry groups, such as full-line insurance, insurance brokers, property and casualty insurance, reinsurance and life insurance. As of Apr 30 2015, the Fund's total assets were $123,505,489 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $123,231,091. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing IAK market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing IAK's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
and then calculating their respective market caps. Comparing the share price of IAK versus a peer is one thing; comparing
