| The iShares MSCI China ETF (the “Fund”) seeks to track the investment results of an index composed of Chinese equities that are available to international investors, as represented by the MSCI China Index (the “Index”). The Fund invests in a representative sample of securities included in the Index that collectively has an investment profile similar to the Index. Due to the use of representative sampling, the Fund may or may not hold all of the securities that are included in the Index. As of Aug 31 2015, the Fund's total assets were $1,921,963,405 and the Fund's investment portfolio was valued at $1,904,566,599. We show 208 historical shares outstanding datapoints in our MCHI shares outstanding history coverage, used to compute MCHI market cap on those dates. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing share price, and the resulting changing MCHI market cap history over the course of time is important for investors interested in comparing MCHI's market cap history versus its peers. Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies, and then calculating their respective market caps. Comparing the share price of MCHI versus a peer is one thing; comparing MCHI market cap versus a peer is a completely different story.
