Mimecast is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is a provider of cloud security and risk management services for email and corporate information. Co.'s services are: Mimecast Email Security 3.0, which protects against the delivery of malware, malicious URLs and attachments, spam, viruses, impersonation attacks, phishing, and spear-phishing attacks; Mimecast Mailbox Continuity and Sync and Recover, which ensure employees can continue using email during unexpected and planned outages; Mimecast Enterprise Information Archiving, which unifies email data; and Mimecast Web Security, which protects against malicious web activity and blocks access to inappropriate websites. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing MIME market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing MIME's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
