Regional Management is a consumer finance company that provides installment loan products primarily to customers with limited access to consumer credit from banks, thrifts, credit card companies and other lenders. Most of Co.'s loan products are secured, and each is structured on a fixed-rate, fixed-term basis with fully amortizing equal monthly installment payments, repayable at any time without penalty. Co.'s main products are small and large installment loans. In addition, Co. provides its customers optional payment and collateral protection insurance, which includes credit life insurance, accident and health insurance, involuntary unemployment insurance, and personal property insurance. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing RM market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing RM's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
and then calculating their respective market caps. Comparing the share price of RM versus a peer is one thing; comparing
