Seadrill is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is an offshore drilling contractor providing worldwide offshore drilling services to the oil and gas industry. Co. operates through the following segments: harsh environment, in which harsh environment rigs include both semi-submersibles and jack-ups that have a number of design modifications to be able to handle to weather conditions as seen in the North Sea and Canada; floaters, which encompasses its drillships and benign environment semi-submersible rigs; and jack-up rigs, in which jack-up rigs are mobile, self-elevating drilling platforms equipped with legs that are lowered to the seabed.
