Abrdn Gold ETF Trust is an investment trust. Co. holds gold bullion and issues Aberdeen Standard Physical Swiss Gold Shares ETF (Shares), (in minimum blocks of 50,000 shares, also referred to as Baskets) in exchange for deposits of gold and distributes gold in connection with the redemption of Baskets. The investment objective of Co. is for the shares to reflect the performance of the price of gold, less Co.'s expenses and liabilities. Co. is designed to provides an individual owner of beneficial interests in the shares an opportunity to participate in the gold market through an investment in securities. We show 17 historical shares outstanding datapoints in our SGOL shares outstanding history coverage, used to compute SGOL market cap on those dates.
Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing SGOL market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing SGOL's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
and then calculating their respective market caps. Comparing the share price of SGOL versus a peer is one thing; comparing
