Tricida is a pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of its investigational drug candidate, Veverimer (also known as TRC101), a non-absorbed, orally-administered polymer designed to treat metabolic acidosis by binding and removing acid from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Veverimer is a non-absorbed, low-swelling, spherical polymer. It is a single, high molecular weight, crosslinked polyamine molecule. Veverimer is designed to specifically bind and remove hydrochloric acid from the GI tract. Acid binding and removal from the GI tract is an approach to treating metabolic acidosis without introducing deleterious counterions or metals.
