TC Energy is an energy infrastructure company which operates in three main businesses: Natural Gas Pipelines, Liquids Pipelines and Power and Storage. Co. has five business segments: Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines, U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines, Mexico Natural Gas Pipelines, Liquids Pipelines and Power and Storage. Natural Gas Pipelines and Liquids Pipelines are principally comprised of Co.'s natural gas and liquids pipelines in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, as well as its natural gas storage operations in the U.S. Power and Storage includes Co.'s power operations and its unregulated natural gas storage business in Canada. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing TRP market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing TRP's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
