The Wendy's Co. is primarily engaged in the business of operating, developing and franchising a system of distinctive quick-service restaurants serving food. Co. operates through three segments. Wendys U.S. segment includes the operation and franchising of Wendys restaurants in the U.S.. Wendys International segment includes the operation and franchising of Wendys restaurants in countries and territories other than the U.S.. Global Real Estate & Development segment includes real estate activity for owned sites and sites leased from third parties. It has 6,030 restaurants in the U.S., out of which 403 are operated by the Co. and 5,627 are operated by a total of 212 franchisees.
