SPDR S&P Dividend is an open-end investment management company. The Fund seeks to closely match the returns and characteristics of the S&P High Yield Dividend Aristocrats Index (the Index). The Index is designed to measure the performance of the 60 highest dividend yielding S&P Composite 1500 Index constituents that have followed a managed-dividends policy of consistently increasing dividends every year for at least 25 consecutive years. The Fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the Index. As of June 30 2015, the Fund's total assets and investment portfolio totaled $13,542,735,420 and $13,515,502,662, respectively. Understanding the changing numbers of shares outstanding, the changing
share price, and the resulting changing SDY market cap history over the course of time is important for investors
interested in comparing SDY's market cap history versus its peers.
Many "beginner" or "novice" investors will look at one stock trading at a price of $10 per share and another trading at
a price of $20 per share and think the latter company is worth twice as much. Of course, that is a completely meaningless comparison without also knowing how many shares outstanding there are for each of the two companies,
and then calculating their respective market caps. Comparing the share price of SDY versus a peer is one thing; comparing

the market cap for a company like SDY can fluctuate over the course of history.
